Where to stay
George Washington is proudly claimed to have slept in at least 2,984 different lodging houses — and that's in Maryland alone!
In northern California we try to stick to the facts. Here's one: Richmond has hotels and motels to meet every taste, every budget. We even boast a bed and breakfast inn sited on a tiny, picturesque island just off our shoreline.
But to the best of our knowledge, George Washington never slept there.
